THE COMPETITION

The concept for this competition is based on a simple premise: Big ideas don’t always need big budgets. It’s all about efficient story telling. With that in mind; I’d love to see what ‘Big Ideas’ you can tell efficiently.

For this first run; we're looking at my favourite holiday; Halloween, and we'd like your scripts to reflect that!

Does Halloween mean horror?

Of course not; or I wouldn’t have given this question it’s own section. Horror’s all fine and dandy; but If Horror isn't your bag; fret not my friends! We accept all genres; Horror, comedy, dramas, sci-fi, whatever. Just fill your screenplay with all the things you love about the halloween; or some of the things you love about Halloween

(Hell; If you’re feeling cheeky; you could try changing the name of your protagonist to Mr. Jack O. Lantern… ;) )

Does it have to be a feature?

Nope-a-roonie!  If your script is less than 45 pages, then yes absolutely you can still submit to our ‘short features’ option!

Better still; if your story is less than 10 pages long; we have a ‘Short Shorts’ option; just to give you that much more of a fighting chance.

Do you offer Feedback?

I’m not exactly going to be drawing attention to that fact if I didn’t; would I. If you select the ‘feedback’ option; you can have your screenplay critiqued, and a breakdown of what works; what doesn’t work; what’s stand-out and what’s questionable.

If your story gets to first place; you could have it acted out by a group of talented voice actors in a full-on table read. You can even stick around after the show and participate in a Q&A about the piece.

Second place winners  will winner will your could win the chance to come onto the show and talk about your story; your writing process; whatever you want.  You can be heard by a global network of professionals filmmakers, all looking for a great project to sink their teeth into.

Third place winners will get a full review of their work on the show, heard by a global network of industry professionals.

Just remember that here, efficient story telling will always win-out over gratuitous 'shoot-out' sequences.  Use resources wisely!!

Competition is running until October 21st and winners will be announced on [You guessed it, Halloween].

We’ll even throw in some early-bird discount if you get your scripts in before August 8th.
